Since 2013 Bitcoin has received a lot of attention and raised questions regarding it’s validity as a currency. The commonly overlooked aspect of cryptocurrencies is the underlying “blockchain” protocol, which has the infrastructure  to disrupt the financial system as a means to transfer assets as we know it today.

Multiplicity has partnered with the CAIA Toronto Chapter to host a discussion on cryptocurrencies, their underlying “blockchain” protocols, and what all of this means to the future of the financial system. The speakers will dive into:

  • The nature of cryptocurrencies in relation to fiat currency and commodities.
  • How cryptocurrencies are used in e-commerce.
  • What is a block chain and how does it work?
  • What does the block chain mean for the financial intermediary system?
  • What is a smart contract, how does it work, what does it mean for the OTC market?
  • What is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and what do they mean to corporate structure.
